Our First Days of Puppy Preschool

We chose Zoom Room for puppy preschool because they have a class specifically for puppies between two and four months old. It is the first class of the day, and everything is sanitized before the puppies arrive, which gave us a safe place to start socializing Cordelia before she was fully vaccinated.

Cordelia was a hit from the beginning and quickly won everyone over.

She has been so brave with every new thing they put in front of her. Tunnels, wobbly surfaces, umbrellas, walkers, bubble blowers, and all kinds of strange new objects barely seem to faze her. She is usually willing to give just about anything a try.

Then comes social time, which might be her favorite part.

Cordelia is always ready to play with everyone. She is friendly, inviting, and somehow seems to have a way of helping the more hesitant puppies come out of their shells. She is happy to adjust to whoever she is playing with and just wants everyone to join in.

The training part has been just as fun to watch. When we work on things like sit, lay down, stay, and different positions, she picks them up incredibly fast. She is obviously a very smart puppy, and I have a feeling it is going to be a challenge to stay one step ahead of her as she gets older.

We take her to puppy preschool once a week, and it has been so much fun watching her get better and more confident each time. Next week she graduates to the next class up, which feels a little bittersweet already.

Winston has come with me to every class and has been a huge help. He has such a natural instinct for figuring out how to encourage her when she is unsure about climbing over something or trying something new. He seems to know when to coax her a little and when to give her time to figure it out for herself.
